William (Jimmie) was a humorous man that liked to tinker in anything mechanical while his tongue waved side-to-side. He was a talented mender and had a gifted. mind that didn't dwell on schematics, A "Good Man" is a phrase that escapes from everybody's lips that REMINISCES a memory of him. accompanied with the most undeniable feelings of warmth. Through his civil and military life, he has touched many lives with kindness. wisdom, service, and mentor-ship. William loved gospel and Motown Music. He loved kung-fu movies, fish fries, beans ,fatback with molasses and barbeque. You would often find him twirling his facial hair and flicking his nails while he watched his educational programs and sci-fi movies. He had an infectious laugh that involved his entire body and a sneeze you could hear from a mile away. He had a multitude of stories from his life travels and a plethora of fart jokes. William passionately believed in defending others. He is leaving behind a profound impact on everyone ,especially his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. William passed away on February 27, 2024, on a Tuesday afternoon ending his earthly journey with an abounding fight to shake the entry gate into the Heavens. He was born in Raleigh, N.C. and, also, grew up in Zebulon. He was a curious, knuckle headed child that liked getting into trouble, scaring cows out the barn into the fields and expertly stringing up tobacco. You would be able to find him in the pool halls later on. In 1976 he met the love of his life. Deborah Forte (McFarland), and married her in 1981. Through 1983 - 1989 they had two sons and two daughters whom he took pride in. When he was 21 years, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was decorated with numerous medals including Expert Marksman.' After the Army, he became a correctional officer at the Central Prison - NC Department of Adult Correction where he became a Sergeant. William retired in 2007 with 21 years under his belt. William leaves behind a legacy of the love of Christ, resiliency, and esteemed memories. William is survived by his sons William and Jonathan, his daughters - Brittaney and Bria, grandsons - Xadrien and Kamryn, granddaughters - Amelia, Kennedy, Aelena, and Alisa, sisters - Dorothy, Cynthia, Betty Joe, and Mary Ann, and brother - Billy Raye. His brother David, preceded him in death. We all stumble along the way and we can only hope to be blessed with enough time to pick ourselves up again. May he rest in eternal peace.
