IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Patrick
O'Daniel
January 23, 1948 – May 3, 2024
William Patrick "Pat" O'Daniel, 76, of Morehead City went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, May 3, 2024, after an unexpected diagnosis of aggressive brain tumors in early April. Born January 23, 1948, Pat was the son of William Bingham O'Daniel and Geraldine Tinley O'Daniel. He grew up in Morton Grove, Illinois and West Bloomfield, Michigan. He raised his family in Southfield, Michigan; Bayfield, Colorado; and Flint, Michigan. In 2006, he relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, ultimately ending up in Morehead City, North Carolina, in 2020. He began his career in media, eventually starting his own company as an animation cameraman and film photographer. He continued his journey as
an entrepreneur starting businesses in toner cartridge recycling and refurbishment, and foundation waterproofing. Pat was known for having a
strong work ethic. He later utilized his CDL license driving for school busses and tour bus companies until his retirement in 2022. Pat was an active member in his church community. He had a particular love of children, bringing them to church every Sunday on a yellow school
bus and always making the kids laugh. He also enjoyed volunteering in Vacation Bible School.
Pat always had a love for the outdoors. As a young adult, he took delight in riding his motorcycle locally and on trips from Michigan to Florida and back. He spent many years camping and traveling with his family all over the country in their RV, and he passed his love for skiing down to his children while living in the mountains of Colorado.
Pat is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet "Jan" Marie; his sister, Karen O'Daniel O'Leary and husband, Tom O'Leary; daughter, Libby Ann; sons, Gideon Patrick (daughter-in-law Julia) and Micah Len (daughter-in-law Sarah); grandsons, Ashton, Sean, Liam, and Finn; granddaughters, Aspen, Ava, and Kelly. Pat was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved sister, Kathy, and her husband, Chet Lapa. Pat's favorite Scripture verse was Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding; in all thy ways,
acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
