Obituary of William O'Neal

William "Bill" Harrison O'Neal, Sr., of Clayton, passed away Friday morning, January 3, 2014 at Rex Hospital with his family by his side.

Born January 4, 1936 in Selma, NC, he was the son of the late William Alvin O'Neal and Gaynelle Pittman O'Neal. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Harold O'Neal.

Bill retired from the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Services for the Blind, and held a position of Director of Business Enterprise with 33 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patsy D. O'Neal; son, William H. "Harry" O'Neal, Jr. and wife Debbie; daughters, Karen O. Hunt and husband Mike, Carla T. Sparks and husband David; grandchildren, Jason O'Neal, Logan Hunt and wife Britney, Brittany Brammer and husband Zach, Connor Hunt, and Rex Cogdell; and great-grandchildren, Berkley O'Neal, Adelyn Brammer; a special friend, Bill Bailey; special little companion, Minnie; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Montlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
