William "Billy" Ora Banks passed away on July 4, 2026 at the age of 92. Billy was born on December 3, 1933, to William Jackson Banks and Mary Jenkins Crutchfield. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Ann Covington Banks. 

Billy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time with his family. He and Ann raised four children together. He is survived by two sons, Mike Banks and wife Lisa, and Jonny Banks and wife, Athena, both of Garner, who lovingly cared for him in his later years.

One of Billy's greatest joys in life was being a grandfather. He was the kind of grandfather every child hopes for. Whether is was a game, a school event, or a special occasion, Bill made sure to be there, cheering on his grandchildren. His grandchildren will deeply miss him: Shane Banks and wife, Tyler: Devon Banks Rose and husband, Andrew; and Brooks, Brett, and Bode Banks, all of Garner. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Banks and Trent Moore.

Billy was a longtime member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan who loved cheering on the Garner Trojans and, of course the NC State Wolfpack.

A private graveside will be held for the family at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Billy was known for his generous heart and his love for his community. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local non-profit or youth sports organization in Billy's memory.
