Obituary

YOUNGSVILLE

William O'Bryan Powell, Sr. is now with our heavenly Father, his wife, LaVerne Warren Powell, and his favorite son, Billy Powell.

Bill was born on September 9, 1928 in Nashville, TN to Flavius Morton and Emma Marie O'Bryan Powell. Bill is the last of his immediate family to leave this life. He had one brother, F. Morton Powell and two older sisters, Marie Powell Williams, and Ann Powell McMahan.

Bill was a retired Navy veteran. He served our country for twenty years as a corpsman and x-ray technician. He was able to continue in that role at UNC Hospital-Chapel Hill, until he retired. Then Bill and Verne traveled the USA working as hosts at state parks in the continental USA and Alaska.

Bill and Verne were married in 1952. Together they raised 4 children. Then Tina Powell and husband, William {Cary} Green, Terrie Powell, William Powell, Jr {Billy}, and wife, Marsha, and Tammy Jean Powell and husband James Kuehl raised nine children. The love and support that Bill and Verne provided their children has allowed their legacy to continue through the lives of their grandchildren and great- grandchildren: Nick and Mary Beth Green Brezinski, their daughter, Jordan; Matthew and Andrea Gill Green, their son, Mason; Christopher and Rebecca Green Jones; Joshua and Jessica Blatt, their sons, Sebastian Elliott and Dylan Bridges; Hannah Blatt; Christopher Powell, his daughter, Elaine Lassiter; Alex and Leigha Kuehl Laws, their daughters, Amaya and Adaline; Michael and Ashley Kuehl Dyer; and Madison Kuehl. Bill also had three nephews and one niece.

One of life's true blessings is to be raised in a Christian home by parents who love and care for you all the days of their lives. Every person named above has been touched by Bill and Verne's life's efforts. We will all do our best to care for those we love now as they cared for us.

And until we meet again BB, Nunner and Billy may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

In lieu of flowers the family invites you to consider a donation to the Franklin County EMS for the care and kindness they showed to both Mr. and Mrs. Powell since 1996. Franklin County EMS 8146 NC 56 Highway, Louisburg, NC 27549.
