Obituary of William Brown
William Silas Brown, 74, of Angier, NC entered his eternal rest on August 10, 2012.
Bill was born in Manchester, Kentucky, one of 5 children to the late Charlie and Elsie Brown of London, Kentucky.
He proudly served as a Specialist 5th class paratrooper in the US Army and was retired from Xerox Corporation. He was an avid member of American Legion Post 116 in Fuquay-Varina, NC and held numerous positions of leadership since 1985. He was well-liked and highly respected in the Post and loved the members there greatly.
Among his favorite interests was fishing in Morehead City, NC, bragging about his kids and grandkids, and spending time with fellow veterans. He was a generous and compassionate man and sincerely loved serving anyone with a need.
Surviving are his former wife, Barbara, son, Kevin Brown of Greenville, NC, daughter, Kelley Newsome of Mills River, NC, "best buddy", Jean Baker and 5 grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and a remembrance of his life will held 1:00 pm Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the American Legion Post 116 in Fuquay-Varina, NC.
